Today Science Communication is very necessary for the development of each and every community. When a child is born, he or she is gifted with the name of a particular Religion and most of the aspects of his/ her life depend on it. When we talk about science most of the educated and uneducated people think that it contradicts our religion. This is the main reason of poor scientific temperament in common people. When a person becomes wise, he must analyze things around him, and find the truth. But generally people follow the same line drawn by their ancestors. This also happens with well educated people and even scientists, although not in the same manner, but in some other way they also get biased with some general thoughts.
The West has claimed for centuries that its scientific progress was a direct result of separating religion from the practical life of the people. It is a fact that throughout the European history, the Church engaged in a very harsh treatment of the people, especially the scientists and the thinkers who opposed the opinions of the Church. This creates a general psychology of separation between Science and Religion. Many people became Atheist just because they believe in science and scientific methods.
Being a religion, Islam does not prevent “to think, to analyze and to explore the reality”. A scientific approach has been encouraged in the Qur’an with the objective of ascertaining truth. It provides men with a chance to verify its authenticity. Islam is a system of life that originated from the Creator. One who created man, life, and the universe and of course the science which rely on the universe. How could be a Creation (Science) is separated by its Creator (God). The Qur’an, as revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) invites man to contemplate the physical world in order to understand its reality correctly.
"He granted wisdom to whom He pleased; and he to whom wisdom is granted received indeed a benefit overflowing; but none will grasp the Message but men of understanding." – Qur’an English Translation [22:54]
"Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- Taught man that which he knew not." – Qur’an English Translation [96:1]
The invitation to think can be found in many verses of Qur’an. Islam does not limit man to think in purely scientific manner. Islam invites all to think about life, nature and universe, so that man arrives at the right answer. Thinking therefore is very much a part of Islam. But nowadays due to busy life people forget to think and analyze things or they just tolerate it.
Our religion never hinders science and man’s progress and there is no contradiction between science and Islam. If we deeply learn about Islam it will help us in communicating science, creating scientific awareness and developing scientific attitude with the reference of religious knowledge in the society.
